(Tamil Division of Tung Ling Seminary)
Tung Ling Bible College (Singapore) was first established in Singapore in 1979 and since then has been successfully training Christians from all denominations and all walks of life. In March 1993, an extension center was set up in Malaysia to be better able to serve the Malaysian Churches. Tung Ling in Malaysia is now registered as Tung Ling Seminary.
In 1998, Tung Ling Seminary pioneered the Tamil Division, under the name of Evangelical Theological Seminary (ETS). ETS was set up to meet the growing needs of the Tamil churches in Malaysia for good theological education.
Rev. Jagadeesan Kalyanakumar from India was appointed Principal of the Tamil Division. Rev. Kumar also heads the Harvest Training Institute, India which is running the School of Ministry (Tamil) in Chennai. The School of Ministry (Tamil) in Chennai, India is also part of the Tung Ling program.
ETS presently runs a Diploma and Degree Program (called the Pastoral Interns Program Tamil – PIP Tamil) jointly offered with the Maranatha Bible Training Institute (India). The Maranatha Group of Bible Training Institutes has a rich pentecostal evangelical heritage, founded since 1963, and is one of the larger Bible School in India with 4 Bible Colleges and Institutes. Since its inception MBTI has trained several hundreds of church planters and some of the more respected church and movement leaders both in India and abroad. MBTI is a member of the Asia Theological Association (ATA).
