About Us

The Chairman’s Message

Every believer should aspire to continuing Bible education and honing of skills to better serve their church and the work of God. With this in view, Tung Ling Seminary was established as a non-denominational bible school that provides not only theological education but also training for ministry.

Tung Ling Seminary recognizes that both theological education as well as practical ministry training should be customized not only for those contemplating full-time ministry but also to lay workers of churches and Christian organizations.

Offering a variety of courses, ranging from a 12 week school of ministry certificate to doctoral program, Tung Ling would be the preferred choice for those serious to be trained and useful in ministry.

The holistic approach which covers knowledge, skills and the application of knowledge, taught by ministers with relevant experience both locally and around the world, makes Tung Ling a most worthwhile and enjoyable learning experience.

Believers, heed the exhortation of Apostle Paul, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim 2:15)

The Principal’s Address

I am so blessed to be the principal of Tung Ling Seminary, a Spirit-led institution that is transforming and renewing the spiritual lives of ordinary Christians into faith-filled believers who are released back to serve in the churches they come from as well as bringing God’s glory into their places of business and work.

Tung Ling has an amazing track record and distinguished alumni. Since 1993, Tung Ling Seminary Malaysia has more than 3000 graduates and besides Malaysia, our alumni are now serving God in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Taiwan, England, Hong Kong, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the United States of America and Zimbabwe.

Our School of Ministry is a 12-week transformational “School of the Spirit” program where the students will come under the tutelage of Word-based and Spirit-filled lecturers who do not just teach cognitive knowledge of the Bible but impart understanding from a wealth of experience in life and ministry. A person can attend this program immediately after completing his/her SPM, STPM, O/A-levels(or equivalent) or first degree. It is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to be spiritually empowered before embarking into the working world. I am confident that pastors who send their church members to study in our School of Ministry will receive them back as equipped and excited workers for God’s kingdom.

Our Pastoral Interns Program (Diploma and Degree Programs) is conducted in modules where the students will have intensive lectures for 2 weeks on-campus. After that, his assignments will be off-campus but supervised by a mentor. In this way, students will have both classroom lessons, as well as on-the-job training. Pastors can still pastor a church while studying to obtain a Bachelor of Ministry.

I am excited to recommend our seminary to you and I know that you will be blessed tremendously to be part of this training program.

THE VISION In the mid-70s, the Charismatic Renewal was sweeping across Singapore and Malaysia. During this time, God gave a vision to a group of brethren from Singapore and New Zealand, among them Elder Goh Ewe Kheng, Canon James Wong, Rev Des Short, Colin Campbell and Gordon Moore to establish a short-term Bible School to equip and prepare workers for the harvest field. With the help of Faith Bible College, New Zealand, a curriculum was developed and in 1978 Tung Ling Bible School was established in Singapore. Tung Ling means ‘Eastern Mountain’ in Mandarin. The founding pioneers believed that God will train many workers in this “Eastern Mountain” and send them to the mission field based on Micah 4:2. Tung Ling is a ‘School of the Spirit’, charismatic in nature, inter-denominational and maintains a strong emphasis on the Word of God and the present working of the Holy Spirit.

In 1993, God gave a burden to Rev. Dr. Eu Hong Seng to set up Tung Ling Seminary (TLS) in Malaysia to meet the growing needs of Malaysian churches. With the approval of the TLBC Board, Singapore, a Malaysian Board was set up to run the Tung Ling Seminary, Malaysia.

In 2001, Tung Ling expanded her wings to India and conducted the SOM in Chennai, India together with Harvest Training Institute. Tung Ling provided some financial support to assist Harvest Training Institute run the School of Ministry in Tamil. in collaboration with our Tamil Division ( also named Evangelical Theological Seminary).

From 2006-2011, Tung Ling Seminary, Malaysia hosted the Masters Programs in collaboration with Mattersey Hall, United Kingdom, the largest Pentecostal Bible College in Europe. The Post Graduate Programs are validated by the University of Wales, Bangor. The first batch of students graduated in 2009.

In 2009, Tung Ling Seminary, Manila was launched to run the 12-week School of Ministry. 20 students attended the inaugural course. The Bible School is hosted by Jesus Reigns Ministries and ran for 6 years.

Also in 2009, Tung Ling Seminary launched an extension centre in Ipoh hosted by Ipoh Pastor’s Fellowship. The extension centre offers the 12-week School of Ministry in English.

In 2014, Tung Ling Ipoh launched the 12-weeks School of Ministry in Mandarin.

In 2017, Tung Ling launched the Mandarin Degree Program in Subang Jaya and Ipoh simultaneously.

Our Mission

"Our Mission is to make disciples and equip workers for the harvest field (Matt 28:16-20)."

Mission Statement

Tung Ling Seminary Malaysia is committed to TRAIN, MENTOR and SEND workers to the harvest fields of Asia and beyond.

Our Goal
In order to accomplish the mission, Tung Ling Seminary sets out to become a higher learning institution where Christians are systematically exposed to hands-on and academic knowledge about Christian ministries in Malaysia and Asia, and to equip Christians to be prepared in season and out of season to serve their neighbors.

Our Objective
By the Grace of God, we are committed to :

TRAIN men and women to be strong theologically in the Word of God and full of the Holy Spirit so that they can effectively preach the Word and demonstrate the power of God in their lives.

MENTOR men and women by combining sound theological teaching with “on the job” training supervised by a mentor.

SEND workers into the harvest fields of Asia and beyond.

Tung Ling means “Eastern Mountain”. On the eastern mountain at Bethel, Abram met with God. Later, his grandson Jacob had 2 encounters with God at the some place that were life changing. Those encounters accurately and beautifully illustrate the mandate God has given Tung Ling Bible School.

On that mountain God begun the process of remaking Jacob into a man of God. He introduced Himself as holy (Gen.28: 12-13) and faithful (V.15) and Jacob responded out of a new awareness of God’s character and with a renewed commitment to serve Him. 20 years later God called Jacob again to Bethel. On that occasion (Gen.35) the Lord confirmed all that Jacob had become. He was no longer the fugitive usurper, but a true “Prince of God”. His name was now Israel! He knew who he was. He had purpose in the present and hope for the future.

Philosophy and Methodology

It is our belief that the best method of training and releasing men and women into harvest field is to combine sound theological teaching with “on the job” training in an environment where these men and women are mentored simultaneously. Mentoring and character building are emphasized in this course.

Here, it is a prerequisite that a suitable mentor be identified, preferably in the same church, before the candidate is accepted.
