DAY CLASS
Module 1: BLS410 Biblical Studies V - The Synoptic Gospels

Dates: 18-22 January, 2021 (1 week, Monday – Friday)
Time:   8:00am to 1:00pm.

Course Description:
In this course, students examine the life, the ministry and the teaching of the historical Jesus as presented in the Synoptic Gospels. Students will explore the literary and theological relationships between the Gospels, and the major themes each one presents, including the various theories regarding the “Synoptic Problem” and the relationship of the Synoptics to the Gospel of John.  The course also covers a general introduction to critical methods in Gospel analysis such as literary, redaction, socio-historical, and tradition-critical.

 

Lecturer: Dr. Colin Hurt

Dr. Colin Hurt has been in ministry for more than 51 years which includes pastoral experience with the Assemblies of God (AOG) in England and USA, lecturer at the AOG Bible College in UK, missionary service in West Malaysia, missionary work all over the world and setting up the Church Planting Institute in Cambodia. He is married to Julia and they have 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grand child.

Module 2: PRO424 Early Church History

Dates: 11-14, 18-21, January, 2021 (2 weeks, Mondays to Thursdays)
Time:   6:00pm to 10:00pm for 11 January only
            7.00pm to 10.00pm for 12-14, 18-21 January

Course Description:
This module looks closely at the integral link between the history of the world and that of the church.  It offers a unique contextual view of how the Christian church spread and developed. From Christ to the Pre-Reformation, it offers an introduction to church history that integrates the events and developments of the church with the social, economic, and intellectual history of the broader world around it. It explores important figures, controversies, and ideas that defined the church during its first 1,200 years with an understanding of key turning points in church history.

Lecturer: Dr. Peter Elliott

For the past 22 years, Dr Peter Elliott has been involved either part or full time lecturingin Bible and theological colleges with an emphasis on Church History. He was on staff at Riverview Leadership College for 10 years, Harvest West Bible College for 14 years and Vose Seminary for 9 years (for overlapping periods, and the last two roles as adjunct lecturer). Until recently, he was Dean of Studies at Perth Bible College and have held an Honorary Research Fellowship with Murdoch University since 2015. He is also an HDR Supervisor for Alphacrucis College and during 2019 was an adjunct lecturer at Sheridan College.

DAY CLASS
Module 1: BLS397 Biblical Studies XI - Wisdom Books: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes

Dates: 5-9 July 2021 (1 Week, Monday – Friday)
Time:  8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Course Description:

This module is a literary and theological study of the wisdom literature in the Old Testament (Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes, and Psalms) with special focus on the place of wisdom in Old Testament theology, Wisdom theology, reading and interpretive strategies, Wisdom genres and the theological message of each book. This module specifically will study the proverbial tradition as highlighted in Proverbs and the speculative wisdom tradition found within the books of Ecclesiastes, Job, and Psalms.It will provide students with a foundation upon which to integrate the essence of Old Testament wisdom literature into their personal lives as a guide for a godly life in a complex world.

Module 2: BLS395 Biblical Studies IX - Pentateuch

Dates: 5-8, 12-15, July, 2021 (2 weeks, Mondays to Thursdays)
Time:  6:00pm to 10:00pm for 5 July only
           7.00pm to 10.00pm for 6-8, 12-15 July

Course Description:

This module is a survey and expositional study of the contents of the five books of Moses called the Pentateuch. It will explore historic events such as the Creation, the Flood, and the Exodus, and highlights in the lives of the Patriachs and Moses. Focusing on the theme of creation, fall, and redemption of the human family, attention will be given to a biblical theology of creation, the earliest human history after the Fall, the covenant-promises, the formation of the Hebrew nation, the tabernacle and presence of YHWH, and the feasts and offerings. These concerns will be considered in light of their relationship to the NT.
 

 

Lecturer: Dr. Ashley Crane 

Dr Ashley Crane is a leading scholar and teacher (Ph.D Murdoch University), ministering in Australia, Asia, and the USA, in churches, conferences and seminars. He is zealous to see people fully trained and flowing in both the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, and to “equip the 95% of a church that will never go to Bible College”.

Dr Crane has been in ministry for 39 years, and has pastored 5 cross-cultural churches in Israel, the USA, and Australia. Ashley was the Principal and CEO of Harvest West Bible College for 18 years. He is currently the Vice President of Celebrate Messiah.

Ashley had an amazing marriage with Debbie for 36.5 years until she was promoted to glory in December 2016. They have 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law. Recently, God has opened new doors and Ashley married Anna and now lives in Melbourne. Ashley’s hobbies include fixing and riding motorcycles.

 

COURSE FEES
For credit students: 
RM 500 for 2 modules per term
RM 350 for any 1 module per term

One time Registration Fee: RM 200.00.

For audit students: RM 200.00 for 1 modules and RM 250 for 2 modules
